Historical significance:
Khasab Musandam was built in the 17th century by Portuguese travellers. In their search for resources, sustenance, and trading opportunities Khasab Musandam became one of the bases of operations in the middle east.
The Portuguese created a total of 4 forts wherein two were located a few miles from the port in Khasab Musandam and 2 forts in Bukkha. The remnants of this spectacle are alive to this day and is an interesting historical monuments to visit when you are in Khasab Musandam.
Khasab Musandam and the Portuguese have an ‘interesting’ connection where the Portuguese, mesmerized by the beauty of the destination, made it their centre of ‘operations’ wherein they engaged in trades, engaged in resource acquisitions and experienced breathtaking views.
So talking about breathtaking views, let’s talk about that, shall we?
Bassa Beach:
Next to Khasba Cruise Port is a quaint, calm and relaxing beach. It’s just a 5-minute walk away to tranquillity, peace and fun at the beach.
Spread a sheet, lay down on the soft sand and bask in the warm rays of the sun as you sunbathe with a view. The heat is perfect in certain seasons and the best for a calm tanning session.
If you’re into swimming in the water, then this is the perfect place for it. The waves are calm, the water is crystal clear, and just the right temperature to thaw out all the stress residing within.
Khasab Castle:
Another unique tourist attraction on the list is Khasab Castle. Constructed in the 17th century by Portuguese colonists, this historical monument is a remnant of the time when the Portuguese wished to control the Strait of Hormuz.
In the present day, the Khasab Castle is the office of the Governor and also a prison. Apart from being a government office, Khasab castle is a destination to witness several old documents, jewellery, Arab kitchen equipment, clothing, weapons and wedding decorations of the era before this one.
Another fun fact about the castle is that it comprises a Quran learning school and an exquisite traditionally elevated summer house. So, if you want to bask in a little bit of the history of Khasab Musandam, this is the place to be.

Jebel Harim – The Highest Peak:
Jebel Harim with a height of 2087 meters, is the highest point in Khasab Musandam. The view of grandeur that Khasab Musandam has to offer can be seen from the top.
Jebel Harim has been derived from the phrase that means ‘Mountain of Women.’ The peak has received its name because of a series of dark events that involve Omani women hiding up in the mountain because of fear of kidnapping by pirates when men were away fishing.

Khor Al Najd

The location is also abundant with lots of scenery, cloud patterns and also surrounding cliffs that engulf you in a beautiful view. Tawi Village:
Go back in time to an age where stonework was the trend and where history was etched into it. The Village of Tawi, located 8 km from Khasab City centre is one of the destinations that you shouldn’t miss out on.
